Is the disposal of old appliances, batteries and accumulators free of charge?

Yes, The disposal of old appliances, batteries and accumulators can be returned to the Power Tools Dealer from where the product(s) was originally purchased. The Dealer will then pass the product(s) on to the Power Tools manufacturer, who will then arrange for the products to be recycled properly and safely. 

How do I register for extended warranty?

The Warranty Period for Bosch Green Power Tools (including Measuring Tools) and Bosch Lawn and Garden Tools (details of which are available at may be extended from 2 years to 3 years.

Extended Warranty can be applied to Bosch Green Products if registered with Bosch, as follows:

What are my guarantee conditions for privately used tools?

The standard guarantee on DIY tools is 24 months from date of purchase.

Customers are also given a three month guarantee on repair work carried out by the Bosch Service Centre or any Authorised Service Agent.

Are spare parts interchangeable between tools?

Generally speaking no. Spare parts are designed specific to each product. To ensure you find  the correct spare parts, always check the product nameplate prior to commencing your search. 

Why should I use Bosch original spare parts?

Our parts are thoroughly tested and precisely manufactured to the highest quality standards, to ensure durability and a perfect fit every time. Using non-genuine parts may affect the performance of your product

How long are parts typically available for my tool?

Bosch keeps spare parts available for at least 5 years depending on the demand and availability in the respective markets.

How high are the shipping costs for spare parts?

For orders through the online shop, a flat rate per order of AUD $10 (incl. GST) is charged.

What if the product nameplate is unreadable?

What is the difference between a spare part and an accessory?

Spare parts is well explained, but what is an accessory? The question asks the difference between the two items.

How do I proceed if I wish to return a spare part that I have ordered?

If you discover external damage to the parcel when the spare part shipment is delivered, then refuse acceptance or show the damage to the postman/delivery agent. If, whilst unpacking the goods, you discover material defects or you have ordered the wrong spare part, then please inform us as soon as possible (within 15 days at the latest). Please also check our delivery conditions on this point. Before you return the goods, you must request a returns note from us, quoting the delivery note number.

Can the calibration service be used for all brands of Bosch Power Tools?

The Bosch calibration service is open to any brand. Upon agreement, we can calibrate not only our own brand of tools, i.e. “Bosch” and “CST/berger”, but also all other brands.

Is calibration of my measuring tool covered under warranty?

Where applicable, regular calibration of your measuring tool is recommended to ensure accuracy of your product. If a tool falls out of calibration this may occur as a result of normal usage and is not considered to be a manufacturing defect covered under warranty. 

What does it cost to calibrate my tools?

Please note that calibration costs are based on no additional parts being required to return the product to a state where calibration can take place. How can I arrange a warranty repair?

Please return your complete tool (with batteries and chargers if applicable) along with your reciept to either the place of purchase or any Authorised Bosch Service Dealer to arrange a repair.

How long will the repair typically take?

We aim to have your tool repaired within 5 working days (excluding shipping times).

Am I entitled to a warranty service after a repair?

After a charged repair, you are entitled to 3 months additional warranty on the parts and labour.

Is there a flat rate cost for repairs?

No, but this is how we proceed: In the case of a warranty claim, the repair is, of course, free of charge. Once the warranty has expired, the following applies: If the repair costs are less than 50% of the new price, we repair the tool immediately. The repair costs are listed clearly in the invoice. If the repair costs are more than 50% of the new price, you will receive a cost estimate.

Furthermore, you have the option of an “advance release”: You decide beforehand if the tool with a repair price above 50% should be released for recycling or if you would like a cost estimate. In case of an advance release, you are exempt from the shipping costs.

How much does collection of the tool cost?

Collection of tools during the warranty period is free of charge. For repairs after the warranty period has expired, there are one-off shipping costs of 7.14 £ (incl. VAT).

How about repairs outside of the guarantee period?

We offer a fixed cost repair service on the majority of our repairs other than those covered under guarantee.
On booking the repair of your power tool if there is a fixed price cost available for the tool in question payment in advance can be made at this point.

How do I pack the tool for repair?

Products for collection must be securely boxed to prevent damage during transportation. Our carrier may also refuse to take items inadequately packaged.

How far in advance do I have to place an order for collection?

Providing we receive a collection request before 16:00, we will aim to collect the following day (weekdays only).

How can I get my tool repaired if the warranty period has ended?

Which browser should I use for MyBosch?

In general, MyBosch can be used with all browsers. However, we recommend that the latest version of the browser always be used. Since October 2018, for security reasons we have excluded very old browser versions (2010-2014). This means that these browser versions no longer have access to MyBosch:

• Android < 4.4
• Safari < 7

Why should I register for MyBosch?

MyBosch offers an extended warranty period of 3 instead of 2 years on your newly purchased Bosch DIY power tools, garden tools or measuring tools. 

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

The log-in or registration window has the function "Forgotten password". 

What do I do if I have reset my password, but have not received a confirmation mail?

In most cases, this is because the mail containing the confirmation link was automatically placed in the spam directory. So please have a look there.
If the e-mail is not in the spam directory, please simply contact us via the MyBosch contact form.

Must I register in order to be able to use MyBosch?

Registration is required for participation in MyBosch and for the warranty extension. 

How can I cancel my account with MyBosch?

Log into MyBosch. In your personal profile under "Account and personal data" you can cancel your MyBosch account. But please bear in mind that we cannot cancel your MyBosch account during a warranty extension. 

What details must I give when registering?

For registration, a valid e-mail address and a password are required. Entering a user name is optional.

Why isn’t MyBosch available in my country?

Since we want to guarantee you a fast service procedure in a repair case, we can provide MyBosch only in countries with their own service centre. Unfortunately, we don’t have a service centre in every country. Exceptions are Ireland (users can register in UK) and Luxembourg (users can register in France or Germany).

Are there advantages if I give my telephone number?

If you give your telephone number, we will be able to contact you in event of any queries, e.g. regarding a repair or participation in a promotion, and thus maintain the excellent service quality.

Can I link my account to my Facebook account?

No, unfortunately you cannot register with your existing Facebook account. 

Where can I give you my feedback on MyBosch?

With the contact form on MyBosch, you can contact us to give feedback and suggestions for improvements quickly and without problem.

What do I do if I have not received a confirmation mail with the activation link?

In most cases, this is because the mail containing the activation link was automatically placed in the spam directory. So please have a look there.
If the e-mail is not in the spam directory, please simply contact us via the MyBosch contact form.

I am registered with MyBosch, but I can no longer log in although the e-mail and password are correct.

In most cases, this is because for some time now a Bosch ID has been required, in addition to the MyBosch account, in order to log in. The advantage here is that you can access all Bosch applications with the same access data. However, for this purpose you have to briefly log in again. Simply go to the "Registration" window on MyBosch and register with the e-mail address that you also use for your MyBosch account so that we can merge your data (warranty extensions, etc.). After you have registered for a Bosch ID, you will receive an e-mail with the activation link. After you have clicked on this link, you can log in to MyBosch in the normal way. 

How can I change my personal data on My Bosch?

After logging in, please click on "My MyBosch account", the following page will then open: "My personal data". There you can change all the settings as you wish. After completing the changes, please save by clicking below.

Is it possible to change the e-mail address of an existing MyBosch account manually afterwards?

Yes. You can change your e-mail address manually under "My MyBosch account". 

Can I also register tools from manufacturers other than Bosch?

Also tools from other manufacturers can be registered on MyBosch. However, the warranty extension and other services and information apply only for Bosch DIY power tools, garden tools and measuring tools. 

Can I also register Bosch Professional products on MyBosch?

No. Only Bosch DIY tools can be registered for the warranty extension on MyBosch. However, you can register them as other tools in your virtual workshop.

Can I purchase spare parts on MyBosch?

No. You can get the appropriate spare parts for your tools in the spare parts shop, which can be found at under Service. 

Can I purchase required tools and material on MyBosch?

The purchase of tools and material is not possible on MyBosch.

What is the advantage of registering my tool with MyBosch?

How do I delete one of my registered tools from MyBosch?

Under "My tools" you can delete the respective tool via "Process page". Should you accidentally delete a tool that was registered for a warranty extension, you can still find the most important data of the warranty extension in the overview under "Warranty extension".

Why does my tool not have a serial number?

There are product categories, for example vacuum cleaners or hot-air guns, whose serial numbers are not in the usual place (on the product tag). For these product categories, it is not necessary to input the serial number in order to obtain a warranty extension.
However, should it happen that you have purchased a Bosch DIY tool and there is no serial number, you can contact our Service Hotline.

Why is the serial number of my tool not accepted by MyBosch?

As we check the validity of the serial numbers, that actually should not happen. The serial number consists only of numbers and letters. It may be that you mixed up 0 and O. The serial number as a rule still consists of 9 digits. If not, please contact our Service Hotline.

The data on my warranty certificate are incorrect. What must I do?

If only the name of the tool is incorrect, but the bare tool and serial number are correct, you needn't do anything. If these two important numbers are incorrect, please contact our Service Hotline

I got my tool in a competition/promotion. I therefore do not have a receipt. Can I still extend the warranty?

Yes, you can still extend the warranty of your tool. Instead of the purchase receipt, simply upload your prize confirmation/promotion participation confirmation. This will be accepted in place of a receipt. 

I cannot call up the warranty certificate./ Despite completing my registration, I have not received a certificate.

There seems to be a technical problem here. Please contact our Service via the Service Hotline. 

I cannot register my tool. Already with the first step, an error message appears.

The tool does not seem to be entered completely in our database. We will track these attempts (e-mail, bare tool number, date). You will receive an e-mail as soon as it is possible to register the tool, and will also be able to register the tool after expiry of the 4-week deadline.

Why must I give personal data when I register my tool?

To ensure a smooth process for the warranty extension, it is necessary to ask for certain information. Product-specific data are required in order to prevent an incorrect entry or to identify the tool exactly. Personal data are required in order to assign the registered tool to a real person. This is necessary in order to prevent or clarify incorrect entries or the misuse of product information by third parties.

The personal data will not be used for marketing purposes without a declaration of consent.

This is annoying for the user. Why do we do it anyway?

It is not really unpleasant for you, you only have to click on a box for the warranty extension. We give you an extended warranty at no additional cost. The extended warranty, on the other hand, will incur additional costs for Bosch Power Tools. In return for free use, we ask you for permission to contact you for marketing purposes.

How often does Bosch contact users for marketing purposes when they grant permissions?

What is the difference between the Uneo and the Uneo Maxx?

The Uneo has a 10.8-volt battery and an impact force of 0.5 joules. The Uneo Maxx has a 14.4-volt battery and an impact force of 0.6 joules. The Uneo has two screwdriving gears, which the Uneo Maxx does not have.

What is the difference between EasyDrill 12 and 1200?

The 1200 has a changeable battery, whereas the battery of the 12 is built-in

Can smoke, dust or rain influence the measurements taken by laser measures?

Yes, because the measuring beam may be absorbed or partially reflected by it, which can result in incorrect measurements.

What is the advantage of an electronic inclinometer?

The measurements are displayed digitally.

What is understood by detection?

Detection refers to seeking and locating inclusions and cavities in buildings and building materials.

What is understood by rotary lasers?

With rotary lasers, the beam can rotate horizontally around the laser and so, in practice, project an omnidirectional beam

What is direct measuring?

With direct measuring, the measurement value can be recorded immediately, for instance by placing a rule on top of the object.


What is understood by individual measurement?

With individual measurement, a fixed distance between two fixed points, for example, is measured and displayed a single time.

Can I measure the slope angle in cm or degrees with my PLL 2?   

As it is a line laser, you cannot do this.

My PMD 7 detector is giving incorrect measurement values, such as showing cables in the wall where there are none. What can I do?

Our detectors have a plastic housing that picks up a static charge. If you place your free hand on the wall, this grounds the tool and then it should display the correct values. If this does not work, please send the tool in for repair.

Are there longer saw blades for the EasySaw12?

No, just the 65 mm supplied 

What is the difference between the EasyRadio12 and the PRA MultiPower?

The EasyRadio12 can be operated only using the 12-volt battery and the PRA MultiPower can be operated using the 12-volt, 14.4-volt and 18-volt batteries.

What does LeafCollect mean for a lawnmower blade?

The blade is designed to be bent at the top, allowing it to also collect the leaves from recent mowing in the grass box

What is the greatest cutting height for lawnmowers?

The greatest cutting height for our lawnmowers is 70 mm. 

Can you leave your Rotak out in the rain overnight?

If you have left the Rotak out in the rain, you can still insert the battery as normal and start mowing

Is there a battery-operated leaf vacuum?

No, currently there is only the ALS 25 (wired)

Can you remove the fan wheel from the ALS 25 in order to clean the tool?

No, you cannot do that. 

Is it only the Durablades that fit the ART 26-18 LI grass trimmer, or can it also be used with lines, as an alternative?

This trimmer cannot be converted.

For which garden materials is the shredder suitable?

Why will the AXT not switch on?

In many cases, the collection box has not been correctly inserted. This is a safety function


Do lawnmowers have carbon brushes?

Lawnmowers have carbon brushes that are permanently built into the motor. Therefore, they are not available as spare parts. An entire motor block would have to be ordered if a carbon brush were to be required

Are our AQT motors water-cooled?

No, they are electric motors and are air-cooled.

Can you regrind the blades of the hedgecutters?

Bosch recommends that you do not regrind the blades, as this alters the cutting behaviour.
Customers remain free to send the blades to a service that offers or performs regrinding.

Does the verticutter also exist as a battery-powered tool?

No, it does not.

If I place the saw blade of my AMW 10 SG on a branch and apply pressure, the saw stops. Why is that?

Please check that the saw blade is correctly installed.

Questions and answers about Batteries

What is particularly important to note before using a battery or cordless tool for the first time?

You should definitely read the operating instructions, as battery technology is undergoing a swift technological transformation, making a new sort of application and operation necessary under certain circumstances.

Can lithium-ion batteries explode?

Brand-name batteries, particularly those in Bosch garden tools, are protected by a variety of safety mechanisms. An explosion is virtually impossible. Nonetheless, short circuits or mechanical damage to the battery should be avoided at all costs.

What is the correct way to store lithium-ion batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries should generally be stored at room temperature. Storage at higher temperatures, however, reduces the service life of the battery. Lithium-ion batteries can be destroyed by temperatures above 55 °C, and can totally discharge at temperatures below -15 °C. Lithium-ion batteries should not be fully charged prior to storage. The activity in a fully-charged cell is higher than a partially-charged cell, which causes the cell to age more quickly.

What is understood by lithium-ion batteries?

Lithium-ion batteries are based on innovative technology that uses lithium as a component of the electrodes. They differ fundamentally from nickel-based batteries and, at 3.6 volts, have a cell voltage three times that of a nickel cadmium battery. You need fewer battery cells, making the power tool smaller and lighter, or more powerful if it remains the same size. In addition to a significantly lower self-discharge, lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect, in contrast with nickel cadmium batteries

How do you dispose of used batteries?

The appropriate disposal of batteries can be done so by returning the batteries to the Power Tools Dealer from where the product(s) was originally purchased. The Dealer will then pass the product(s) on to the Power Tools manufacturer, who will then arrange for the products to be recycled properly and safely. 

What is the memory effect?

The memory effect occurs in NiCd batteries if they are not fully discharged. If a part of the battery is not used, the battery "remembers". The underused part of the battery is then no longer available for storing energy in the battery. In lithium-ion batteries, this type of memory effect cannot occur.

What is self-discharge?

Self-discharge refers to the process by which a battery passively emits energy through storage alone. Once a certain time has elapsed, the battery has to be charged before it can operate a garden tool. The self-discharge with conventional nickel technology is approximately 25% per month, whereas with lithium-ion batteries this is less than 2%. Lithium-ion batteries are therefore ready to use even after prolonged periods of storage.

Questions and answers about Drills

Can you drill all materials at the same speed?

No. You have to adjust the speed in line with the material properties.
The softer the material, the higher the speed. The harder the material, the lower the speed.
As materials differ significantly in terms of hardness ratings, you should always drill at a speed correctly adjusted to the material and drill bit diameter.
The technical literature has detailed application tables. The speeds in our application tables should be treated as simplified guidelines with which you can achieve good results when using hand-operated machines.
Different speeds may sometimes apply to specialist drills and core bits. In these circumstances, it is best to use the values specified on the packaging or in the operating instructions. If the speed of the drill being used cannot be precisely specified, then you should use the closest value.

What are the risks surrounding drilling?

The primary risk for the drill user are potential recoil torques. Recoil torques are caused by increased torque output from the drill, due to increasing drill bit friction in the drilled hole in the event of:

    Deep drilling
    Drilling large diameters
    The drill bit jamming in the drilled hole or when being removed from the workpiece

The drill bit – and consequently the power tool – jamming can lead to especially large, dangerous recoil torques.

How can you avoid recoil torques when drilling?

The recoil torques that may result from drilling can be avoided as follows: Always use sharp drill bits that are in perfect condition. Damaged or blunt drill bits produce much more friction and tend to be jammed or blocked very easily.
If you are drilling down deep, help remove shavings by regularly retracting the drill bit. This decreases the friction of the drill bit and consequently the risk of jamming.
Select the appropriate speed and secure the workpiece when drilling holes of large diameters.
Generally, you should pre-drill when drilling holes in metal of over 6 mm in diameter. Taking this measure means that you then need less feed pressure. This is particularly advantageous when drilling thin metal plates, because you can meter the feed pressure more sensitively when removing the drill bit from the workpiece, preventing the edge of the drill bit from being hooked in. As a rule of thumb, you should select a drill bit for pre-drilling with a diameter corresponding to the width of the chisel edge of the large drill bit.
Recoil torques can be compensated for by operating the machine safely. This is why it is necessary to hold and guide the drill using both hands. If an auxiliary handle is provided for a certain drill, it must also be used.

What are the key differences between an impact drill and a drill?

The spindle is firmly attached to the bearings on the drill. This produces great precision concentricity. The metal drilling speed is optimised. With an impact drill, the spindle is positioned amongst the bearings such that it can move freely. Depending on the system, the precision concentricity is not as good as with simple drills. The speed is generally higher than that of simple drills, because impact drills are also used for drilling stone, for which you need a high impact rate.

What power tools do you use for routing?

The hand held electric tools for routing are designated under the collective term "routers". Routers are generally located above the workpiece during operation.
Routers differ from each other in terms of purpose of use and power consumption. Standard ones are:

    Multifunctional tools
    Edge routers
    Simple routers

What needs to be considered when routing and how do you avoid risks?

The main risk of injury presented by routing comes from the sharp router bit. This is the case both when the tool is operational and when it is not. Routers are designed to work at very high rotational speeds. Incorrect operation can cause machine kickbacks. Only sharp router bits that are in perfect condition may be used. The router bits must be suitable and permitted for the relevant router. Blunt or damaged router bits can lead to strong vibrations, machine kickbacks and the router bit breaking. Injuries caused by the router bit can be avoided by taking the following measures:

To avoid risks, you should only set down the planer once the planer cutter has come to a standstill. It is best to use a planer type that comes with a safe option for setting down (a "parking rest"). With this device, the planer cutter cannot touch the work surface. Nevertheless, you should ensure that the work surface is free of objects.

Any materials with smooth, non-absorbent surfaces, e.g. glass, metal and smooth or heat-sensitive plastics such as polystyrene foam, cannot be glued. If in doubt, try it out before use.

How safe are hot glue guns?

Hot glue guns are very safe in terms of electrics, but, as with all electrical and electronic equipment, should not be left unsupervised when switched on. However, due to the adhesive's high melting point of 150–180 °C, care is required during use in order to prevent burns.

What materials can be tacked?

As a rule, only wood and wooden materials can be tacked – if the wood is not too hard. Natural wood and plywood are better for tacking, because the grain exerts an additional clamping force. Other wooden materials such as chipboard can be tacked reasonably well only using resin coated staples.
Any hard materials, such as metals, stone materials, glass and hard plastics, cannot be tacked.

How safe are tackers?

Tackers are extremely safe if they are used as intended. They should always be operated on the workpiece and never "shot out" freely. This is why many tackers have a safety mechanism that only allows them to be triggered once they have been positioned on the workpiece.

Why should I spray instead of using a brush?

Spraying offers you three considerable benefits:
Paint spray systems do the same work in a considerably shorter time than a brush and roller.
Thanks to how very finely the paint is dispersed, you get an even application of paint, including on textured surfaces in particular.
Spraying also allows you to reach places that are not easily accessible, such as corners and edges, without effort (e.g. spraying privacy fences).

What paints can be sprayed?

You can use all common lacquers, varnishes and wall paints with the Bosch paint spray systems. The choice of paint depends on the area of application. Do you want to paint your walls, lacquer your furniture or protect your wooden terrace from weathering using a varnish?

Emulsions/wall paints:
Suitable for painting ceilings and walls. They adhere well to surfaces, compensate for surface irregularities, seal pores on plastered walls and concrete and are the preferred choice for painting woodchip and embossed wallpaper.

Lacquers are generally opaque coating agents. When dry, they produce a high-quality matt or shiny surface. They are primarily used for painting wood, metal, plastic and mineral resources.

Paints with subtle, low pigmentation. They are used if you want the structure of the surface to remain visible. Varnishes protect wood against weathering, UV radiation and, in some cases, fungal and insect infestations. Varnishes make wooden surfaces even.

What should you be generally aware of when spraying and how do you use a paint spray system?

Before spraying:
Before spraying, anything that you do not want to be sprayed should be carefully masked or covered up.
Cover the floor with a painting substrate instead of film, so that nothing can slip or fly up unrestrained.

Connect the spray gun to the air hose on the basic tool or motor and fill the container with the required wall paint, lacquer or varnish. Thin the wall paint, if necessary.
The right nozzle must be selected and secured, depending on the type of paint. Then set the right spray and air volumes and do a spray test on a bit of spare cardboard or something similar.

When spraying:
When spraying, select the required spray pattern: Horizontal, vertical or pencil jet spraying.
To cover the surface perfectly with the paint, you should spray from a distance of about 20 cm with a steady movement. It is recommended that you spray from side to side. Begin a second spraying process if necessary, i.e. if the paint is not yet fully covering the surface.
When spraying, always work parallel to the wall and start at the light source. (e.g. window)

After spraying:
Once you have finished the spraying process, the spray gun should be cleaned immediately, to prevent the paint drying out inside it.

Why does paint have to be thinned?

If the paint is too viscous, it can be sprayed only with difficulty or not at all.
The optimum thinning always depends on the type of paint. Please comply with the information from the paint manufacturer.
In our experience, thinning the paint is advisable.
Start with thinning of 5% and try out the spray pattern on an old piece of cardboard, for example. If the result is not yet satisfactory, thin the paint by another 5% and test it again. Do not thin by more than 15–20%. Please comply with the information from the paint manufacturer.

How can I clean the tool?

If you have used lacquers/paints containing solvents, you will need solvents. For water-based paints, cleaning with water is sufficient.
Tip: Warm the water slightly and use washing-up liquid, as this lets the paint come off more easily. An old washing-up brush or toothbrush is the most suitable tool for removing paint residues.
