You need: NanoBlade saw, screw clamps, safety glasses, tape measure, wooden planks

First you need to shorten all the strips to the right length as specified in the construction plan: Cut four cross struts for the side sections and four corner struts (“A1” in the construction plan), four cross struts for the front and back sections (“A2” in the construction plan) and a gable strip (“A3” in the construction plan) to a length of 70 cm each. Then shorten two of the roof strips to 50 cm (“B” in the construction plan) and the other two to 46.2 cm (“C” in the construction plan). Now adapt all four roof strips to the angle of the roof slope. To do so, bevel the bottom edges of each roof strip to 45 degrees so that they can be placed against each other in a right angle at the top. A suitable tool is a mini-saw or jigsaw. After sawing, carefully sand down the edges so that they are nice and smooth.

Construction Plan

You need: Multi-sander, screw clamps

Next, pre-drill the cut side strips and corner struts (“A1” in the construction plan) for the frames of the side sections according to the marks in the construction plan, using a cordless drill driver and a 3mm wood drill bit so that the screws can be driven in flush later on. Now put together the side and corner struts (“A1” in the construction plan) and fit them together with screws. Connect the two resulting frames to each other by means of the four cross struts (“A2” in the construction plan) at both the top and bottom to produce a cube. When doing so, again use the wood drill bit to pre-drill the holes.

What good is a house with no roof? That’s why we’re going to make one now. Put two of each roof strip (“B” and “C” in the construction plan) at a right angle to each other as shown in the construction plan, pre-drill and fit them together with screws so that the longer of the two strips is on top. The previously bevelled ends of the strips will form the bottom edges that are later placed on the frame of the house. Then connect the two sides of the roof at the tips with screws using the gable strip (“A3” in the construction plan). Now place the finished roof on the frame and pre-drill and fit it with screws according to the marks in the construction plan – the screws have to be thoroughly countersunk here as well.

To ensure that the baby cannot roll out of the side and that the little house is nice and stable, it is now panelled with three wooden boards (“D” in the construction plan). To do so, cut the wooden board using a cordless mini-saw so that one board on each side (62.4 cm length) and one on the back (70 cm length) of the house can be fitted into the frames. Insert the sawn wooden boards and fit them to the frame by driving in two screws on each side from the outside. Before doing so, again use the wood drill bit to pre-drill all holes on each side from the outside according to the marks in the construction plan.

You need: scraper, wood filler

To make everything look better and to increase safety for the baby, seal all screw holes flat with wood filler. Once the filler has dried, thoroughly sand down the filled positions again.

You need: Paint spray system, floor protector or cover sheets, face mask, paint

Once the surfaces are smooth and splinter-free, you can spray the baby house in your favourite colour. Use a paint spray system which enables paint to be applied quickly and evenly.

Important: Use paint that is suitable for infants and meets the EN 71-3 standard. To work precisely, set the spray jet to “pencil jet” and hold the gun about 20 to 25 cm away from the little house. Leave it to dry for several hours, ideally overnight. Then furnish the house with a soft pillow or blanket, add your little one’s favourite cuddly toys and hang up colourful rattles and toys – and your baby’s cuddly paradise is finished!
