The PBH 2100 RE corded rotary hammer is ideal for drilling, hammering, and chiselling effortlessly in concrete, masonry, tile, wood, and metal. A 550 W motor powers the pneumatic Bosch hammer mechanism, delivering a high-impact force of 1.7 joules. An SDS plus chuck enables quick and secure, keyless accessory changes. A Vario Lock chisel function provides the option of 36 selectable chisel positions, ensuring the optimal working angle at all times. It also features Bosch Electronic Speed Control, which enables the correct speed for the material through the pressure-sensitive trigger.

Single impact energy as per EPTA

The EPTA – European Power Tool Association – has defined a measuring technique for calculating the single impact energy:
Single impact energy as defined by the EPTA is the energy that is actually available to the operator in the drill or chisel upon each average individual actuation of the impact mechanism. This roughly corresponds to the impact energy generated in the tool less all transmission losses and interference factors.

To calculate the single impact energy in accordance with EPTA, impact drilling in concrete is simulated using a blunt, cylindrical test rod. The elastic deformation on the test rod caused by the impact of the hammer mechanism is recorded by strain gauges. These recordings are used to calculate the energy acting on the test rod per impact.

The EPTA measuring technique therefore calculates the net single impact energy when the tool is used in realistic conditions. Values measured using the EPTA technique are therefore suitable for providing a comparison between tools of all manufacturers and for estimating potential work progress.

Other measuring techniques, such as calculating the impact force or impact energy generated inside the impact mechanism, are permitted, but have no validity in terms of the single impact energy as per EPTA.

This is why EPTA member organisations have agreed to comply with the measuring technique outline above when calculating single impact energy.
