This depends on which Bosch battery you use. The kit version comes with our 2.5Ah battery, which would run for approx. 30 minutes continuous. Batteries up to 6Ah can be used with our GardenPump18, which would run for even up to 90 minutes.
The submersible pump should be lowered into the desired body of water. From here, the user should make sure that the battery is fixed firmly into the control unit. The user will now be able to pump water from the desired location. If a spray handle is attached, it’s possible for the pumped water to act the same as a mains hose with a spray handle attached.
The best time to use the GardenPump in the Garden is when plants, vegetables and flowers require watering (usually Spring to Autumn). It is recommended that if there is a risk of frost in autumn and winter, remove the pump from the water tank. Always drain any water from the pump before storage. Store the pump and control unit in a frost-free environment.
GardenPump 18 is useful for several other tasks including: Moving water from tank to tank; Replenishing garden ponds; Emptying children’s paddling pool; Light cleaning and setting up with a sprinkler system to water the lawn. Do not use the product in a swimming pool or above 2000 m above sea level.
The standard kit would be set up for one tank at the time, however a separate accessory can be purchased (GardenPump extension kit) to use the same battery unit but acquire an additional pump unit. Each pump unit can be permanently fixed in each rainwater tank, whilst the battery unit can be easily moved from the different tanks to function the pump. The accessory kit would come with the two fixing choices (wall or tank attachment) to offer the flexibility of moving the unit easily.
GardenPump18 is suitable for tanks (closed or open tanks) up to 1.8m high. Typically, such tanks will have capacity between 750 and 1000 litres.
The pump needs to be positioned 50 mm above the base of the tank, clear of any sediment that might damage the pump.
To activate the time function, press the time function button when the pump is switched on. After pressing once, the running time is 5 min. With each further
press, the running time of the pump increases by 5 min, up to 15 min.
The selected running time is indicated by the corresponding
LED After the pre-set time has elapsed, the pump switches off automatically.
The benefit of such a timer function is the use of sprinkler systems or irrigation systems that are set-up for vegetable or flower beds and to control the time of watering.
The pump is equipped with a filter to prevent damage from contamination. Inspect and clean the filter regularly. Pull off the filter downward. Clean the filter under running water and then attach the filter onto the pump again. If damages are seen, please replace the filter with a new part (filter accessory) to prolong the life of the product.
