You need: measuring tape, pencil, wooden board
In order to create your homemade Christmas star to decorate your living room, you need the correct dimensions. To do this take a measuring tape and measure distances of 10cm each on the wooden strips. Then mark the points with a pencil.
Cut the wooden strip
You need: NanoBlade saw, screw clamps, safety glasses
Now time to saw the wooden strips to size. First, use screw clamps to secure the wooden strips in place so that it doesn’t slip during sawing. For protection from sawdust, wear protective goggles. Make sure you saw the wooden strip at your marked points, so that in total you should have ten short pieces.
Sand the pieces of wood
You need: Multi-sander, Sanding sheet for multi-sander G120, screw clamps
Now sand down the wood for a smooth finish. The easiest way to do this is with a multi sander and an abrasive paper with a grain size 120. Make sure to secure the wooden pieces with screw clamps before sanding. Once you finish sanding, remove the excess dust with a hand held vacuum or a hand brush.
Turn the wood pieces into a star
You need: Cordless glue gun, Plastic glue sticks, alternative to glue guns: wood glue
To create the star shape, stick the pieces of wood together at the end of another piece and so on till you create a star. Then leave the glue to dry.
Wrap the wooden star with twine
You need: twine
Now to add the finishing touches to your star. First start by knotting the coarse twine at any point of the wooden star and then wrap the twine around the star. For the best results wrap the twine diagonally and in a pattern to ensure the star looks even. Once you have wrapped the whole star, make a knot and hide it under the other threads.
