Make your own stylish framed mirror – in just six steps!

You need: Digital Laser Measure Zamo (Set), Zamo - Tape Adapter, Mirror tape, Mirror

Your new mirror will take no time at all to make: but first, you have to measure the mirror itself. Use the Zamo and tape adapter to help you: position the device on the left-hand side and pull the tape across the widest part of the mirror. Now read the measurement. In our example, the diameter is 40 cm.

Get the MDF panel cut so it’s the same size as the mirror; add one millimetre to the diameter so that the webbing fits well.

On the back of the panel, mark where you will drill the holes for hanging it. To ensure the holes are central, divide the wooden circle up into four – just like the slices of a cake (see next image). Or simply calculate the halfway point of the circle.

Then tape the mirror to the MDF panel using the mirror tape. To do this, you need to create a type of grid with the tape. This is the best way to secure the mirror. When purchasing the mirror tape, be sure to check how much load it can bear – and of course, don’t forget to follow the instructions.

Next you need to measure the circumference of your mirror and wooden panel. You can use the Zamo with tape adapter for this, too. Wrap the tape around the mirror once until the red lines – the reference edges – are touching. Make sure that the tape is laid evenly against the edge of the mirror. Based on this measurement, you’ll know how much veneer and webbing you need to purchase. If you're using two strips of veneer, add a little more to the number so that the strips overlap.

You need: Cordless Tacker, screw clamps, wood glue, veneer strips

Wrap the first veneer strip around your mirror. Then staple it down at regular points to secure it. Our tip: let the stapler rest on the wood for a few seconds after stapling – that way the staple will hold more securely. Lie the second strip over the first so that it blends in. Glue together the overlapping ends with wood glue and fix them in place with two screw clamps. Then staple the second strip to the wooden panel. Allow everything to dry thoroughly.

You need: IXO 7, IXO Collection – Drilling adapter, 3.5 mm wood drill bit, Cordless drill/driver, Digital Laser Measure Zamo (Set), Zamo - Tape Adapter, pencil, scissors, screwdriver

You’ve almost finished your DIY mirror! Now drill holes in the places you marked for the screw eyes. Use a cordless screwdriver (such as the IXO) with a drilling adapter, or a cordless drill/driver – whichever is available to you. Position the holes in the middle of where the veneer strips overlap, around 1 cm from the bottom of the panel.

Now cut the webbing so that it’s as long as the circumference of the mirror – if you haven’t yet cut it down to size. Mark the correct length and cut it with some scissors. Spread some wood glue over the webbing and stick it gently to the bottom edge of the veneer. This will cover up the staples and the holes you’ve drilled.

You need: screw eyes, cord

Screw in the screw eyes through the webbing and attach the cord to them. Your DIY mirror is now complete!

You need: Cordless combi drill, Mixed sets (bits, drills, accessories), The Bosch Rotary hammers, Wood Drill Bit Set, a screw and matching wall plug (for mounting on the wall)

Now drill a hole in the wall where you want to hang your DIY mirror. Insert a wall plug, followed by the screw. Tighten the screw but leave part of it sticking out so that you can hang your stylish new mirror from it. Of course, you can also use a hook to hang up your DIY masterpiece, instead of a screw.
